A Brief History
Paul Zazryn began his apprenticeship in 1973 at one of
Melbourne’s leading Jaguar dealerships. He became State
Apprentice of the Year (each year) throughout his training and
then continued to attain higher and more diverse certification
through various course studies.
"Twenty-three years ago I decided there was a better way of
looking after prestige cars. For ten years I had seen many
unethical ways people were being treated in the motor trade and
decided that was a place for a business with the correct morals
and ethics in this trade. So, after a company I was working for
went broke, I had o job, no holiday or severance pay, an 8 year
old daughter and 6 month old baby, my wife Gay and I founded
Caulfield Jag Service (formally Paul Zazryn Automotive Services)
with a $500 Bankcard."
A lot of years have passed since CJS
started , and it has
become clear to me why people resort to making the quick buck –
because some people don’t care about anything by price and the
job being completed yesterday. I soon learned that running a
successful small business had not very much at all to do with
being a good mechanic and knowing how to fix cars. Instead, it had
a lot to do with being on call 24 hours a day, performing miracles
while customers wait and predicting the future as accurately as
possible.
Since the early days, we have built a large regular clientele
and have been able to keep to our original concepts of honesty and
integrity in every aspect of our business. People are very
sceptical of the motor trade, and in some instances quite
legitimately so, so it is satisfying when you can form a long and
trusting relationship with a customer.
After 20 years Paul and Gay have decided to
explore other avenues and interests with ownership of the business
now passing to Graeme Haymes and John Gardner. Paul still assists
as technical advisor and the boys are expanding to cover Triumphs,
MGs, Rovers and other Classic marques of interest.
Now after twelve months we are well
established in the business and the service department has
expanded as we hoped to include the above marques, so give us a
